Happy Valentine's Day! (part 2)

Happy Valentine's day!! Hope you all had an awesome day :D Aside from spending most of the day in bed while attempting to recover from pneumonia, I had a good day :D and doing a photo shoot with the kiddos was tons of fun....at least when they were all cooperating :D

Okay, so I promised photos...check! Next was songs I think.....

Alright, lately I've been listening to a lot of Jamie Grace's music. I love her light, joyful spirit, and the way that she simply loves the Lord. One of her songs talks about how she's a "God girl". She's not out looking for earthly romance, she's content in her Saviour's love. The song link is here, and one of my friends wrote a beautiful post about it here.  I also love this one by Jamie Grace. :D

Another of my favorite songs is "Faithfully", by Eric and Leslie Ludy, here.

This song by Rebecca St. James is one that I love. It's a good reminder to pray for my future husband, wherever he is at the moment.

I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman has been one of my favorite love songs since I was little girl.

When We're Together by Mark Harris is a new favorite....honestly, if I decide to play this on youtube, I end up replaying it about 50 times :)

I didn't actually include this in my preview post, but I thought it would be fun to show you some of my favorite books about love/relationships (:

Sacred Singleness

When God Writes Your Love Story

Preparing to Be a Help Meet

Passion and Purity

So, there you have it :) Happy Valentine's day!!!!

Book Review: Kisses from Katie

Ok, this may possibly be one of my favorite books EVER! I ordered it last week, after devouring everything I could find on Katie's blog. Katie is an incredible young woman who left everything she loved to go and serve the least of these in Uganda. Hers is a story of human frailty, loving Jesus, and learning to go the extra mile. What I love about this autobiography, though, is that it's really not about Katie Davis. It's about Jesus. As I read of Katie's adventures, I laughed and cried. It took me two and a half days to finish this book, because I simply could not put it down. And now I want to move to Kenya and bind up wounds and help to heal hurting hearts....... (:

Book Review: George Muller

I bought this book in 2009, while I was in Texas. However, aside from the flight home, I hadn't really devoted a lot of time to reading it. I picked it up again 5 or 6 weeks ago, and I found that I couldn't put it down. Arthur T. Pierson  skillfully tells the true story of a man who relied fully on God. George Muller, the book's subject, spent his life praying with great faith, and he watched God provide every single need. Honestly, this book has forced me to reevaluate my version of "faith". Yes, I trust God. Yes, I believe that He has saved my soul. But do I really, truly believe that He is my sole provider? Do I lean on Him for everything? Absolutely everything? I've been especially challenged by his views on personal finances. George Muller chose to live as simply as possible so that every extra cent could go to the Lord's work. He refused to pour his income into a retirement fund, because he knew that the Lord would provide. Wow. Let's just say this book is causing me to seriously reevaluate my prayer life, my faith, my finances, and my focus. I highly recommend it!

Book Review: The Lost Daughters of China

I'm not sure what can be said about this book other than simply "wow." I had no idea that the girl-abandonment issue was so bad in China! It always amazes me to read a book like this and realize that horrible things have happened and are happening in my lifetime, but nobody has said a word!! Why are the evening news reports filled with the latest bestseller, new traffic laws, and silly, insignificant things, when on the other side of the ocean, millions of children are being abandoned, with only several thousand being adopted. This book opened my eyes to the horrors that still exist in China, but at the same time respects China rather than saying that it's a terrible place. On the downside, the author of this book is not a Christian, and has a very "open" view of Buddhism, Confucianism, etc. Also, although I found this book to give valuable perspective on the abandonment crisis in China and transcultural adoption issues, it does talk about China's birth control policies, and is not something I'd recommend for younger girls, or guys. Up next: deciding to read about the AIDs orphans in Africa, or a book about transracial/transcultural adoptions.....
