History alive!

We've all heard of living history...you know, where people dress up and try to bring the past to life? well, today, there is an incredibly important historical anniversary. 400 years ago today, the pure, inspired Bible was released to the English speaking people . Ok, so I know that may seem a bit dull to those of you who are more interested in say, royal weddings, or celebrities, or the latest greatest craze....but take a moment to understand what this day means! It means that for 400 years, we have had the privilege of reading God's word for ourselves, not relying on the priest to interpret it for us! It means that we are FREE! Free to worship God as the Bible teaches, not as the state church teaches! It means that we have access, here and now, in our very own language, the Living, Breathing, Everlasting Word of God!! The Bible tells us that the Word was with God, and the Word was God- When we hold that blessed Book, we hold the very mind of Christ, the very essence of our God! Yaweh! Creator of all! And He allows us His word?! That, my friends, is true living history, because it is an important moment in the Book that is alive!
