Adoption

ok, I'll admit it here and now. I'm a HORRIBLE blogger! I have great ideas for posts, and never get around to writing them on the correct days. However, I decided that one of them was important enough to be posted late :)

Tuesday was an amazing day. It marked one year since the finalization of three of our adoptions. That day may just seem like a ceremony to some of you, just making legal what was already in place. But those of you who have experience with adoption from foster care know better. For us, it meant no more wondering how long our sweet family members could stay with us. It meant no more wondering if the state would mandate us to put them in public school. It meant no more chances for family members to come out of the woodwork for a chance at taking these kids. It meant no more long nights wondering if someone would be torn from your family. More importantly, it meant finality. An end to the days of nightmare inducing visits. An end to social workers in and out of our home at least twice weekly. It meant an end to the need for writing letters of request to take a family vacation with them. It meant they were finally ours, and no one can take them away. I was reflecting on the way that God adopts us...it's beautiful, really! It's amazing that the God of all glory reached down, found the most worthless sinners available, and adopted us! He gave us His name! We're on our way to His home! How beautiful is that?

So, with the beautiful gift of adoption we've been given, both physically and spiritually, please take the time to care for those that are yet fatherless, whether spiritually or physically. It doesn't take much to witness to the lost, Fatherless world, nor does it take much to show love to a fatherless child. Please, learn to love them as Christ did!
