Desires of your heart

Ps 37:4
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Lately, my family has been noticing a recurring theme in our lives. There are things that we greatly desire, but really aren't a "need". We call them "thought prayers", or "heart prayers". Things we don't even really form a prayer for. And you know what? God has just been pouring those things out on us with unmatched generosity lately. A few weeks ago, for instance, my mom went shopping at the local "liquidation" discount store. She needed diapers for my little brother, but knew we just couldn't afford to buy a certain name brand that works better than others. The store she was going to never carried that brand, so she knew she'd have to settle for something else. As she walked in the store, can you guess what was right in front, on sale? that's right. The answer to her "heart prayer". Another day, my mom and I were out shopping, and decided to stop in our favorite consignment shop (which happened to be having a dollar sale 3 days before the scheduled date...don't tell me that wasn't a God thing!). Mom is planning to speak at a parenting conference in the near future, and really wanted a nice suit with a skirt. And guess what happened to be on the rack, for a dollar? A suit, exactly her style, that fit her perfectly. We all know how fast little boys grow, but these past few weeks my little brother has outgrown nearly every item in his drawers. We're not exactly the type of family that can go and buy an entire new wardrobe every time someone moves up a size though. But guess what? A little boy at church just happened to be 2 sizes bigger than my brother, and needed to pass down his too-small clothes. (exactly my brothers size!). My brother has recently become fascinated with "Thomas the tank engine", and as I was in Wal-mart the other day grocery shopping, I happened to see an adorable "Thomas" shirt. I wished I could get it for him, but, as with most licensed character items, it just wasn't in our price range. Guess what was in that bag of clothes from our church friend? A Thomas shirt!! You know, some days you've got to call on God, and beg Him for the strength to go on. But in the midst of that, don't forget to take the time to realize what He has done and is doing, right down to the itty-bitty, almost insignificant desires of our hearts. He has promised that in our weakness, He is strong, and He is showing that in amazing ways to our family lately. God is so good! Take some time to praise God- He's worth it!!!
