Wonderful Grace

Well, lately I've had a dilemma . I've been having a tough time finding a time and place to have Bible study time by myself. So the Lord graciously allowed my sweet baby brother to nap for 2 hours today!!!! During that time, I finally started studying Ecclesiastes, a book of the Bible that I've read, but haven't really studied all that much. Now, this may sound like I've got a really short attention span, but I only got through the first verse. I actually learned some really important things from that one verse! First ,Solomon calls himself "the Preacher" .This to me means that he was boldly proclaiming the gospel, which is of course, something that all Christians need to do. Then , he calls himself the "son of David" . The line of David, from a christian perspective, is a great picture of God's redeeming grace, as He used many people from all walks of life, people who had done terrible things, people who turned and served the Lord with all of their hearts. However, from a worldly perspective, they were a bunch of wicked people, murderers, liars, harlots, and cheaters. This reminded me of how ,to God, we are very special, but to the world, we are weird, dorky, fanatical people. Third, Solomon calls himself "king in Jerusalem". To me this signified him basically saying " I'm not the king OF Jerusalem , I'm not the final authority. I'm just someone that God is using as a guide. Ultimately, God is the King Of Jerusalem." This is the same for us in our lives. We all have "minor authorities" in our life, (parents, pastors, etc.),but ultimately, God has to be the final authority on EVERYTHING!!! anyway, just thought I'd share what the Lord taught me from one of those " short, dry, kind of "extra" verses" :-) ( obviously ,none of the verses in the Bible are extra, but it can seem that way when we just read them without really studying them)
