attitude of gratitude
On the way home from church today, we were listening to a children's cd with our younger siblings. One of our favorite songs is called "Attitude of Gratitude" - you've probably heard it. Anyway, it talks about giving thanks in all things, letting others see our joy in tough times, and being a witness through our praise. Actually, it's a very convicting song. Especially when there are things in our lives that, let's face it, we DON'T WANT TO GIVE THANKS FOR! like that person that is rude to us....or that cake that burns....or that dog that ate the brownies.....or the dishes that pile up in the sink. But guess what? God knew all about those things when He told us to give thanks. Giving praise and thanks is just that- giving. When we don't feel like it. When it takes effort. When it's HARD thanks. But there is ALWAYS something to give thanks for. The opportunity to practice patience, or discretion, or hard work, or charity, or any other quality. Simply thanks for His will...whatever that may be!
